  • I am not one to cook with tofu that much. Even though we buy the organic and non-GMO kind, it is still a processed food so we try to keep it to a bare minimum. However, when I do decide to include some tofu in our diet, it must be absolutely packed with flavor.

  • In sync with Barbara's renowned love for food and all things vegan, I am finding myself looking more and more towards just buying and eating unprocessed foods.

  • I am not going to lie, it’s been a tough couple of weeks. My husband and I have been trying to re-adjust back to life—back to our normal routine—but no matter how much we try, we never seem to get back there…

To say that I loved California is an understatement. I felt right at home there, like I had found my niche. There are vegetarian and vegan restaurants pretty much everywhere (really, really good and gourmet ones), the organic food movement is huge and very strong, everyone seems to care deeply about the environment (we had never seen so many hybrid cars and solar panels in our lives), and the people are a lot more laid back and friendly than in the east coast. I could easily live in Santa Monica or Venice Beach, ride my bike everywhere, and be happy.

Throughout my journey following a plant-based diet, I have come to discover and fall in love with many different kinds of fruits and vegetables that I had never even seen before. They were there, I am sure, but my palette for anything in the produce section back in my non-vegan days was very boring and non-adventurous, so I’d walk right past them without even a glance.

The other day I found myself looking at the past, thinking about how much everything has changed…how much I’ve changed. A big part of it, I believe, is obviously due to maturity. As you get older and mature, you start to realize that what you once thought of as important really wasn’t, and what you once gave little value to is actually what truly matters.

Last week I had the honor of attending a dinner with my Guerlain team here in Guatemala and Eduardo Jimenez, one of Guerlain’s International Makeup Artists who was in town for a few days. As usual, we had a great time talking about the brand we all love, its legacy and the new men’s fragrance, L'Homme Ideal—which, I have to tell you, is absolutely amazing! It’s totally different from anything in the market, and truly is he ideal fragrance for every man. (My husband says it’s the best he has ever owned. And I agree.)
