  • Because our next marathon training begins next week and nutrition will play a key role in helping us improve our time, I have already begun stocking up my pantry with the essential ingredients I’ll need...

  • In Massachusetts (or anywhere, really), it’s hard to come by a person who isn’t charmed by Martha’s Vineyard. Owning a house there—even a tiny little one—would be a dream!

  • The only way to understand how incredible the accomplishment of finishing a marathon feels is to actually run one. There are no words. And now that I’ve done it, I can see why so many people end up signing up for more.

  • You don’t realize how much stuff you have until you have to pack and move. The good thing is that moving kind of forces you to do a little bit of “cleaning”...

I have always loved Indian food. The rich combination of spices and herbs used in their cuisine is nothing short of mouthwatering and amazing—it awakens all my senses.

This past weekend was a lot of fun. Since a good friend is in town for a few days, we joined him and his girlfriend for a day well spent in Antigua. We walked around, visited Caoba Farms (where we ran into Machteld, from our Inspired Elements segment), shopped at the market and a couple of stores, and—of course—ate extremely well. I love the vibe Antigua has; we can visit a million times and never grow tired of it.

This week I really struggled to get back to my normal routine. Suffering from an excruciating neck injury—which resulted in a bad inflammation, making me unable to even move my arms—all I really wanted to do was lie in bed and read all day, everyday. Thankfully, the inflammation has now subsided, and on Monday I can return to my physical therapist to start the treatment on my neck.

I know shorts aren’t very popular here in Guatemala, being a very conservative country and all, but even though I’ve been living here for four years- okay, almost five- this still baffles me. The girls here do wear shorts at the beach (which is only two hours away), but here in the city...not so much. I mean, if you’re comfortable wearing cocktail-length dresses, you should feel comfortable wearing shorts, too. They both show your legs! (It is 2014 after all.)

If you follow me in Instagram (@barbaramarsicovetere) you know that my husband and I left to Dallas last Thursday in order to attend our niece’s first birthday, which took place on Saturday. As you’ve probably noticed, every time we travel I come back with a number of new beauty products, some of which I get very excited about and just have to share with you. This time, I want to proclaim my love for Acure’s Brightening Facial Scrub.
