Finding a restaurant that serves a decent brunch on a Sunday here in Guatemala can be a real struggle....
It’s hard to believe that the marathon is only 7 weeks away! This is when you start the “marathon preparation” and the training gets harder.
Since giving up refined sugar months ago, I had to look around and research for better and healthier sugar substitutes that I could use in my smoothies, cereals and food recipes.
Now that the World Cup is over and our minds aren’t focused on soccer, I have to tell you about this new line of hair products that I was anxiously waiting to arrive. (I was waiting since February!).

I am no expert when it comes to hair tools. I have owned a couple of flat irons in the past and currently possess an inexpensive curling iron (I can’t curl my hair with a flat iron for the life of me), but none have gotten very much use. Whenever I have to style my hair myself, I always, always end up turning to my hair dryer. You can’t mess up with a hair dryer, can you?
So, if you asked me whom I’d call if I weren’t an interior designer myself—and if I had all the money in the world—and were in the possession of a fantastic, yet empty home in need of decorating, well, Maria Lládo would be on my list!
Our weekend was pretty low-key. We went for our runs, stocked up on groceries, tried a couple of new recipes and even caught up on Game of Thrones (we love!) and watched a movie (The Monuments Men, please watch!). We wanted to lay low because we both had started to feel what seemed like the first symptoms of the flu coming, so we stayed in, rested as much as possible and gave our immune systems a boost with lots of fruits, tea and superfoods.
This week was hard. As our training progresses, the more miles we have to run and, consequently, the more calories we burn. As of last week, I’ve been burning an average of 800-1000 calories per workout. And I’ll be honest, eating enough to recharge my body throughout the day has been a challenge.
I’ve always loved smoothies. I already shared with you the recipe for my favorite Green Monster, which was my official breakfast for almost a whole year, when I didn’t have the time (or the mind!) to cook for myself early in the morning. By the way, a couple of days ago, I added a few slices of pineapple to it and it tasted wonderful!
